Solid 4.5 Football Stud Stars
"When you meet the girl who’ll be sitting on the front porch holding your hand when you’re eighty, you don’t let a thing like cool dismissive looks, big brothers, or fucking rules stand in your way."
I haven't read much by Jen Frederick, but I definitely want to read more from her. I really liked her writing style and I loved how she actually used REAL football terms and gave us a lot of the sport in the story. Surprisingly, that isn't very common!
It was so refreshing to read a story about a college athlete who is NOT a complete and total walking STD... (Though there are some friends in the story who are.)
I liked that his character was virginal, but not a 'goody two shoes'. He was definitely crass and accepting of his teammates "activities" but just didn't partake in the sexual favors thrown at them because of their status; it made it feel very real.
People may say that the idea of a college boy who is being offered non-stop pu... um I mean... 'female attention' staying a virgin for any reason is not believable, but here's the thing. Nothing about a romance novel is really supposed to be believable. That's kind of the point of reading. We don't read this genre to be regaled with real-life situations. You read this genre because you want the fairy tale.
Book boyfriends are saught after reading material because 'real' men are not the devilishly handsome, GQ cover, sensitive guy with a great sense of humor and lickable muscles who marries his college sweetheart and they have mind exploding sex till they are old, wrinkled, and can't move the way they used to.
Sorry for the spoiler everyone!
Anyway, I loved this one and can't wait to carry on the series!
