Wicked Deeds on a Winter's Night by Kresley Cole
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
“After this night, you’ll arch tae my touch and crave my kiss. When the heat is upon you, every inch of your body will recognize mine as its master.”
Hands down, my favorite book in this series so far!
What a FREAKING GREAT BOOK!!!! Cole just really killed this one.. in the best possible way!
I was SOOO stoked to get to Bowen's book because he was just so broken and miserable after what he has been through. After peripherally watching him compete in the Talisman's Hie through Kaderin's story, I could not wait to read about him and Mariketa.
Bowen MacReive was one of my favorite hero's. He wasn't perfect and that was what made him so great. He was damaged from a past trama that would criple almost anyone, he carried on with really one purpose in life (to find a way to bring back his dead Mate), and allowed himself to basically waste away around that one goal. He has survived 180 with that sole purpose with misery and guilt being his only companions.
Mariketa the Awaited was not my favorite heroine, but I didn't dislike her at all. I thought she was a very good match for Bowe. They had this really great chemistry and such an entertaining Love -Hate dynamic through most of the story. She is extremely young in comparison to most creatures of the Lore, not even having reached her immortality phase yet, and she definitely seems it. She is thought to be the most powerful which born in many years but has yet to learn how to control and make use of her awesome powers.
The majority of the story takes place in the jungle following the conclusion of the Talisman's Hie as Bowe is given the task of seeing that Mariketa makes it back to her home in Louisiana in one piece. Along the way, the two undergo challenges due to the rugged terrain, secondary character interactions, and their own love/hate relationship, but they also grow closer and learn much about the other. Will Bowe be able to overcome his past to accept a new possible Mate? Will Mariketa be able to forgive Bowe's transgressions from the competition enough to give him a chance at her heart?
You MUST Read!! Seriously, Fantastic read!!
