Dark Needs at Night's Edge by Kresley Cole
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
GREAT, Great Story!! I was aching for a Red-Eyed Vampire turning back to the "good" side for his Bride and HELL YES! I GOT ONE!!
“Would you follow me anywhere?”
“Into the sun.”
GOD Conrad!! We didn't hear really anything about him in the previous books other than the fact that we knew he was a Wroth brother and has been MIA since the "turning". Never thought of the fact that there might be a "noble" Red-Eyed Vamp, but Conrad would fit that bill... (mostly). He has spent the last 300 years of his immortality killing and drinking to death bad/evil creatures of the Lore. He knows his end is coming with so many enemies after him and is prepared for that once he is able to get revenge on his brothers for turning him into what he is now.
Neomi was a celebrated and famous ballerina in 1927 who is currently a ghost stuck in her abandoned New Orleans manor, cursed to relive her tragic murder one night every month. It's been a long and lonely 80 years since her murder at the hands of her crazy ex-fiance. Until the night a group of three large men drag an uncooperative fourth man into her home and chain him up as a captive. She learns that the Wroth brothers are Vampires and are trying to 'Detox' their brother Conrad from his 'Bloodlust" acquired by his drinking to death his mercenary targets for the last 300 Years.
After their first few encounters, we find that Conrad is the only being who has been able to see Neomi out of all the people who have come through her home during her life as a ghost. With him being trapped there for the time it takes to clear his mind and her being trapped there for eternity, they start to develop a bond. We see that there seems to be a stronger force that wants to tie these two together, but how will it ever work for an incorporeal ghostly ballerina and a half-mad Red-eyed Vampire...
