Man Hands by Sarina Bowen
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
5 Adorable Stars!
This was a very good breather book between some more intense books I have been devouring lately. I LOVE dark romance, but you know sometimes you just need to take a break or else you start thinking being kidnapped and falling in love with your captor starts to sound like fun... Not sure that's a good place for me to go.
BUT BACK TO THE BOOK
I also listened to the audio book with this and I have to say Erin Mallon is probably my favorite female narrator. She just destroys those narrations, like in the best possible way! Luke Daniels who reads the part of the hero also gives a solid performance. I would definitely recommend the audio book in this case!
This was a fun little read with a cute plot line and some hilarious characters. I have read several other books by this author and have always connected with her writing style. She had me cracking up so hard in this book with some of the dialogue, my husband asked me if I was ok when I was laughing my ass off in the middle of folding laundry.. several times.
I recommend this to anyone who is looking for a laugh out loud romantic comedy, with fun characters and witty banter!

Misadventures of a Valedictorian by M.F. Wild
My rating: 1 of 5 stars
WOW.... (and not in the good way)
This book had so much potential in the synopsis. I was super excited to start it up and then as soon as I did that excitement deflated like a sad balloon... I couldn't get any farther than 14%.
This just had all kinds of bad in it. The attraction was way to fast for them having seen each other before. Then the first sex scene (in which she is supposed to be a virgin BTW) which was in the FIRST CHAPTER the book was (view spoiler)[ a freaking threesome with DP (hide spoiler)] with the hero and his friend!!
(view spoiler)[ "I wasn't thrilled that Travis's dick was in my girl, but it did take the pleasure off the charts" (hide spoiler)]
AND Even worse and weirder, This is all taking place after a game in the coaches office and the coach walks in with another player on the team (Hero's friend), interrupting when they are both half clothed. And what does Coach do, you ask?? Well, the totally normal thing and says
"Travis was the one who scored tonight"..."Not very sportsman like not to share"
I mean.. WHAT THE ACTUAL F IS THAT ABOUT!
Ok, Thats it. I'm out. This is the worst. If I could negative star it, I would. Unimpressed

Review: I Dare You
I Dare You by Shantel Tessier
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
"These waters are swimming with sharks. And you are bleeding." She looks over my shoulder at Cole, then back at me. "But, I can think of worse ways to die."
This book.... DAMN This book tho!!
I have to say this book is BAR FAR one of the BEST books I have read this year! IT has everything a lover of darker romance could want! The dark disturbed hero with a sweet center, the badass heroine who 'don't take no shit', interesting secondary characters, excellent plot line, AND kick ass twists!
"I wanna make you a beautiful, broken doll, Austin. ... "All mine to play with"..."All mine to fuck"..."All mine to destroy."
PLUS, Holy Covergasm Batman!
Cole was totally disturbed and crazy (Some serious therapy is needed for this dude), but I loved him regardless. He is very much the anti-hero. I found myself thinking "What is wrong with me that I want him to get away with all his crimes and Austin to just forgive him for anything?!"... Maybe I have problems too...
ANYWAY! Austin is a great heroine who has had to deal with a lot in her young life and still somehow ends up not letting it break her. She never feels sorry for herself, doesn't back down when people push her, and was just easy to connect with. If these characters were any less damaged as individuals their relationship would have never worked. But in the end it comes together beautifully.
We start out with our heroine, Austin Lowes, moving in with her well-to-do father, Bruce and stepmother Celeste. She was shipped off from her mother and mother's boyfriends home to finish the last of her high school to graduation. Now both sets of parents are awful in different ways. Her father involved and uncaring, mother is emotionally abusive and (view spoiler)[the mother allows her boyfriend to sexually abuse Austin (hide spoiler)]. Neither care about Austin or what happens to her past how they can exploit her. She gets to her fathers and later that night witnesses a crime being committed by none other then our Hero and his gang of "great white sharks". Cole catches her and thus begins the slow process of Cole taking possession of Austin. His goal in the beginning and throughout most of the book is to use Austin for his own purposes and entrench her in his gangs activities so she won't be able to go the police. Over the course of the book you as the reader sense his feeling turning into something more. He is very stubborn in his acceptance of his true feelings for Austin due to his own inner demons. There are lots of twists and turns, my Kindle might as well have had Gorilla Glue sticking to the cover. I COULD NOT STOP READING!
The ONLY thing I didn't like was that I wanted more! The information covered in the last 10% of the book could have been expanded upon. I know the way she wrote the ending was to create suspense, but it just felt a bit abrupt.
This is some 5 star reading right here and I highly recommend, if you are into dark and gritty romance, PICK IT UP!

NEW REVIEW -Tempted: A Stepbrother Romance Novel by J.L. Ostle
Tempted by J.L. Ostle
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
☆ 3 stars! ☆
Tempted: A Stepbrother Romance
By: J.L. Ostle
This story had so much potential! I was so excited when I first read the synopsis because I really enjoy a good stepbrother/forbidden romance. It was like that moment when you are going through book after book after book and just saying... "hmmm, that sounds interesting, but not my mood at present so I'll just save it for later so I don't forget its there" (btw, I have probably no joke 30 books like this just sitting as samples on my kindle for when the mood strikes me to read them). Then I saw this one and was like "YES, That's the ticket!"
ANYWAYS....
BACK to the book...
So Kacey, our heroine, has a mother who is relocating for work and she is sent to go live with her father for the her senior year of highschool. She reconnects with her father and turns out to really like her stepmother and life seems to be Aces. Enter Aiden... Highschool bicycle (given every girl a nice long ride 'eyebrow waggles'), teenage bad boy, all around Hottie McHottstuff, and
Sparks fly upon their first meeting and continue through the book as they navigate through their mutual lustyness for each other. They both are attracted to one another, however, the way that Aiden decides to deal with this attraction is to be a real DICKHEAD! He knows it is wrong to feel this way about his new stepsister and instead of just being a normal person and resisting temptation by using normal impulse control, he decides to start rumors about her sexlife and bully her.
I have to hand it to Kacey though, she didn't just take that s**t laying down! She gave as good as she got. (view spoiler)[ Even when it came to Summer the Queen Bitch of the school (view spoiler)[ (hide spoiler)]
So, good premise and normally like spot on directly in my wheel house of favorite books!
What's the problem, you say!? Why only 3 stars, you ask!?
WELL, See our hero her COULD NOT KEEP HIS DICK IN HIS PANTS!!! I was like "Dude! Did you have some bad Sex Education in school where you think that if you don't stick it in something once every 24 hours it will shrivel and fall off?? Cuz that's not what happens...
I think he had sex or got a Bj at least 6 times in this book and none of those included the heroine. Now, while I would not classify this as cheating per say because they were not a couple at all through this book, he was clearly enthralled with her. Call me old fashion, but I like it when the hero does not try to bury his feelings for the heroine in like 20 other girls.
I don't mind it if they have other relations in the beginning, but I feel like once there is any kind of physical encounter between the MC's that they should both be so hung up on the other person that can't/don't want anyone else for a time.
Aside from some odd dialogue and writing choices and some grammatical errors, that was my biggest issue with the book. I can get over most anything else, but that just bugs the you know what out of me when they can't keep it in their pants!
Also, there was this one odd thing I have to mention! There is a scene in the book where the author does like a shout out for herself... to another book she wrote...it was strange and I am not sure how I felt about that. Hmmmmm...
Anyway, I would recommend reading it, but just go in know these issues about the book and hopefully you can enjoy the underlying story. I will be reading the next one, so we shall see if that one is any more my speed. (hide spoiler)]
